Quote

I will not die an unlived life.
I will not live in fear
of falling or catching fire.
I choose to inhabit my days,
to allow my living to open me,
to make me less afraid,
more accessible,
to loosen my heart
until it becomes a wing,
a torch, a promise.
I choose to risk my significance,
to live so that which came to me as seed
goes to the next as blossom,
and that which came to me as blossom,
goes on as fruit.

Thank you for that beautiful poem. I'm gonna copy it to put somewhere near me.

And I encourage you to press for the walker - as I always encourage parents to press for what they think is best for their children. No matter the end result, the discussion will be worthwhile. The PT should be able to give solid reasons for every treatment decision.

Meantime, I find a rolling stool invaluable for saving my back while assisting children to learn to walk. I have resorted to walking on my knees and in the clinic, have donned knee pads.

I realize these may seem like odd suggestions for the home, but your back is important for supporting not only you but your whole family, in the future. Worth a bit of oddity. Barbara

Thanks for the info. re: walkers and resources. I pressed, gently, again last week for the walker and as soon as we have the new AFOs, we'll be addressing the walker! The PT has been watching to see if Q's scissoring, overpronating, and trunk strength change or solidify. The scissoring is lessening, the overpronating is steady (without the AFOs), the trunk strength is increasing *and* so is his desire to motate. Woohoo!

Thanks much for your comments -- keep 'em coming. :o)
